Executive Conference Dates - March 27-29, 2012

NMDA is presenting the Executive Conference on March 27-29, 2012 at the Embassy Suites Atlanta Airport.  The Executive Conference will begin with a reception on Tuesday and end on Thursday late afternoon. There is a free shuttle ride from the airport and Atlanta is a non-stop from almost anywhere.

Tie Down Engineering will be hosting attendees at a tour and reception at their 500,000 square foot facility where they manufacture more than 7,000 products.  NMDA members who attended the last Executive Conference will recall that we toured Medart Distributing and many commented that the tour was one of the highlights of the event.

New this year: The format has been changed slightly. The meetings will be 40 minutes long, but will be held in the DISTRIBUTORS' suites. This change reinforces the purpose of the meeting to discuss issues pertinent to the business relationship---not sales. You can find the registration forms and other information in the Members Only area.

Important Regulatory Issues from EEOC, HHS and DOL

The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) has been busy, commenting on a number of important regulatory issues, such as employers' use of criminal background checks; the "Affordable Care Act", more commonly known as "ObamaCare", and the affordability of key proposals, and a new affirmative action hiring goal for individuals with disabilities. Employers would be encouraged to invite job applicants to voluntarily self-describe as disabled, possibly putting the employers at risk of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibition against asking if a job applicant is disabled.
